How long will the Husqvarna Z 275X take to mow your property?
Pick a lawn size for a quick figure, or mark the area you actually mow and MowerFacts will work out the acreage and this mower’s estimated time on it, from its own published deck width and ground speed.
| Mower | Estimated time | Remove |
|---|---|---|
| Husqvarna Z 275X | 7–13 min |
For a square lawn of that size, open ground to the edge. The range runs from an experienced operator to a homeowner going round beds. A real lawn has more edge than a square, so these are a floor.
Up to four. Only models with a published deck width and ground speed can be timed. Compare them side by side ›
Or measure your yard › Mark the area you actually mow on a satellite map for a time based on its real shape.
What these figures assume
- The time is worked out from the shape you drew, not only its size: mowing time from the area and the deck width, turning from the number of passes, and trimming from the length of the edges - including the edges of anything you took out, because going round the house and the beds is work. This is why a small, cut-up lawn takes far longer per acre than a field does.
- Two times are given because the honest spread is about a factor of two. The low end is an experienced operator on open ground at 70% of the published top speed, with quick turns and little trimming. The high end is a homeowner at 45% of top speed, taking longer over turns and tidying every edge. Published top speeds are transport speeds; almost nobody mows at one.
- The "at top speed" column is the old area-only arithmetic at the published figure - the fastest a machine could manage on open, flat ground with nothing in the way, and not a time anyone should plan around.
- Representative classes use the median deck width and published speed of the real machines in that class on this site.
- This is an estimate of mowing, not a promise about a job. Terrain, slopes, obstacles, trimming, how full the grass is and how fast the operator actually drives all change the real time.
What one acre takes, by mower
Before you measure anything: this is how long one square acre — 209 ft on a side — takes for each class of machine, from the median deck width and published ground speed of the real mowers in that class on this site. The shape is stated because it changes the answer: the same acre as a long strip has half again the perimeter, and more perimeter means more turning and more trimming. The calculator above uses the shape you actually draw.
The range is the spread between an experienced operator on open ground and a homeowner working round beds and tidying edges. Published top speeds are transport speeds, and the last column shows what the arithmetic would say if anyone mowed at one.
| Mower | Typical deck | Mowing speed used | Published top speed | One square acre takes | At top speed | Models measured |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 21 in walk-behind | 21 in | 1.4–2.2 mph | 3.1 mph | 165–269 min | 113 min | 26 |
| 42 in lawn tractor | 42 in | 2.5–3.8 mph | 5.5 mph | 54–92 min | 32 min | 24 |
| 48 in zero-turn | 48 in | 3.6–5.6 mph | 8 mph | 37–65 min | 19 min | 61 |
| 54 in zero-turn | 54 in | 3.8–5.9 mph | 8.5 mph | 32–57 min | 16 min | 95 |
| 60 in commercial zero-turn | 60 in | 5–7.7 mph | 11 mph | 25–46 min | 11 min | 104 |
| 72 in commercial zero-turn | 72 in | 5.4–8.4 mph | 12 mph | 21–39 min | 9 min | 33 |
How the acreage is worked out
The acreage is the geodesic area of the rings you draw — spherical excess on the WGS84 authalic sphere, which is accurate to well under a percent at the size of a property. Positive areas add, exclusions subtract, and the total can never go below zero. The figure moves as you drag the boundary, and the final number is recomputed on the server from the same points, so what you see quoted is not something the browser decided.
What it cannot do is know where your lawn ends. MowerFacts holds no parcel data, so the tool never draws a boundary for you or guesses a lot size from an address — it measures what you marked.
The address goes to this site’s own server, which asks a geocoder on your behalf; your browser never contacts one directly. See the privacy policy.
